Flyers D Gudas suspended 10 for slash

NEW YORK (AP) Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas was suspended for 10 games without pay by the NHL on Sunday for slashing Winnipeg Jets forward Mathieu Perreault.

Gudas was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for slashing midway through the first period in the Flyers' 3-2 loss at Winnipeg on Thursday night.

Gudas is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit $408,537.


Gibson stops 50 as Ducks edge Panthers

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Of all the ways to win a hockey game, this wasn't Anaheim's favorite.

John Gibson stopped 50 shots and the Ducks held on to beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 for their first winning streak in three weeks. The Ducks were outshot 52-28, but Gibson was able to make goals from Josh Manson, Rickard Rakell and Brandon Montour stand.


Karlsson's 2 goals lead Knights by Kings

LAS VEGAS (AP) In the first meeting of what figures to be a fun Pacific Division rivalry, the new guys in Vegas struck first.

William Karlsson scored twice, Maxime Lagace stopped 27 shots and the Golden Knights beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 on Sunday night.


Aho, Teravainen lead 'Canes past Isles

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Sebastian Aho's scoring surge seems to be rubbing off on his teammates.

Aho had a goal and two assists, Teuvo Teravainen scored twice and the Carolina Hurricanes beat the New York Islanders 4-2 on Sunday night.


Lundqvist blanks Sens as Rangers win 3-0

NEW YORK (AP) Although Henrik Lundqvist didn't face a lot of shots, he came up big when he needed to.

Lundqvist stopped 20 shots for his second shutout of the season and 63rd of his career, leading the New York Rangers over the Ottawa Senators 3-0 on Sunday night.


Avs rally in 3rd, top Red Wings in OT

DETROIT (AP) Jared Bednar thought his Colorado Avalanche got what they deserved Sunday night.

Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill didn't disagree.


Jets D Enstrom to be sidelined 8 weeks

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) Winnipeg Jets defenseman Toby Enstrom will be out eight weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced on Sunday.

Enstrom didn't play the third period of Saturday's 5-2 win over the New Jersey Devils because of the undisclosed injury.


Predators' Watson gets 2-game suspension

NEW YORK (AP) Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL on Sunday for boarding Colorado Avalanche forward Dominic Toninato.

Watson was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding during the first period of the Predators' 5-2 home victory Saturday night.


Leafs blank Canadiens, win sixth in row

MONTREAL (AP) It took Auston Matthews only two periods to get into his groove.

Back after missing four games with an upper body injury, Matthews scored twice in the third period to help the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Montreal Canadiens 6-0 Saturday night for their sixth straight win.


Ovechkin bloodied as Caps end Wild's run

WASHINGTON (AP) Alex Ovechkin got stitched up, and so did the Washington Capitals after a rough road trip.

Ovechkin returned after taking a puck to the face and T.J. Oshie had a goal and an assist as the Capitals snapped out of a recent funk and ended the Minnesota Wild's winning streak at four with a 3-1 victory Saturday night.
